    Default Brush file storage

If I make a new brush, how is it saved? In its own file? Is it saved so that I can use it in other creations like the default brushes? A little clarity would be appreciated. Thanks. Dan

Dan, they will be added in the Line gallery as Document Brushes, so in the current document, not to a filestore.

If you change a default brush, you need to use Save As and this also appears in the Document Brushes Line folder.

yes save a brush stroke in a xar file, and then by opening that file it will be available for use in other documents during the session next time

if you want it to open automatically you need to copy the xara file to the program brush folder which for my program is:

    C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Designer Pro X\15.1\Templates\ENG\Brushes

you path may be slightly different if you use another version

note too many brushes in this folder can slow the program down

Saving brushes to the default Brushes folder can really slow down the xara launching time. As HD suggests save all your brushes to a dedicated brush folder instead.

Thank you all. Now (I think) I understand. Not storing in default folder is great info.

Best to make a separate folder to store the brushes in, somewhere you can easily find it and save each xar brush file into that.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.
