upper and lower case text .. making it the same size and thickness?

Here is a logo I am making. There are three letters in a box. Two are uppercase and two are lower case. I am trying to get the letters to be the same size and thickness. The only way I have been able to accomplish this so far is to enlarge the lower case letters and give them a line with the same color as their background. This essentially gives the same look as far as the thickness but the letters themselves are not exactly the same size as the uppercase letters.

Does anyone know a better way of doing this? There are several other items I must create in this manner so a better solution than the way I am doing it now would be very helpfull.

Simple and elegant, like I like to see.

There are many fonts that have more than the usual two weights. Eras is one of these that has about 6 or more different weights. That might work.

There is also a type foundry that Jens recommended (Jens if you see this can you post the URL) that offers a ton of high quality fonts for a low price, most have a large selection of weights.

This way you do not compromise the integrity of the font by adding outlines, etc.

There is a solution. You should use a picture with squares. Give it some transparensy (or to letters) ... After you have done all the work simply delete this picture.

You can use the same help when creating logos, turned in some angle, or placed like a star or hexahedron...

Try using the Contour tool /Mitre Join / Inset Path. This should give you the effect your after.

Thanks Egg for the contour idea, it worked perfectly for what I needed to do.
