    4. Use the Photo Tool > Select Color to Enhance, select the white, right click and select Make Transparent.
    5. Garnish to taste
I'm gonna practice this...mainly because I've read it twice and still don't get it. Needs a hands on learning curve methinks. It's also the same as handdrawn said I believe.

That's fine, that's alle I wanted to see. Yes, painting over parts of the .png file with the transparency protected makes it very easy to recolor the frame. I thought this was also possible in XDP but after trying it out I'm not sure anymore.

My daughter dropped it into Medibang and simply 'painted' a colour on then smudged it. A lot simpler and very effective.
indeed, personally I would not do this in xara when a bitmap program such as SAI or corel painter can preserve transparency and all you need to do is paint over [ I have not tried the one your daughter used] - but it can be done in xara if you don't have the other software

    just playing around really.xar

[but the trace was done in illustrator, not xara's strong point]

there are probably other ways this can be done

handrawn, twice I spelt your name incorrectly, sorry. Feel free to go all medieval on me if I do it again.

Medibang, SAI, FireAlpaca...all painting programs of a similar ilk. SAI was her favourite for a long time, then she moved to Medibang for some unknown reason.

I have a folder full such graphics in png and was working out the best way to attack them if the need arose.
