indeed, personally I would not do this in xara when a bitmap program such as SAI or corel painter can preserve transparency and all you need to do is paint over [ I have not tried the one your daughter used] - but it can be done in xara if you don't have the other softwareMy daughter dropped it into Medibang and simply 'painted' a colour on then smudged it. A lot simpler and very effective.

Medibang, SAI, FireAlpaca...all painting programs of a similar ilk. SAI was her favourite for a long time, then she moved to Medibang for some unknown reason.
I have a folder full such graphics in png and was working out the best way to attack them if the need arose.
