Whenever I have to do a flyer or other 1 or 2 page publications, I always turn to the Swiss Army knife of programs XaraX. As there is always the "what I want in the next XaraX version threads", I was thinking a text box would be nice for laying out columns of text. Then I thought "have I missed that feature and didn't know about it?" Looked in the Help menu and lo and behold you can set text column widths.

Here are some screen grabs as examples. For more info do a search in Help for "text columns".

Yes that's a cool function. And you can even rotate arbitrarily your column afterwards. I have made several booklets for my work with Xara X. That's also so amazing to arrange layouts with the transparency effects and layers. It's a breeze!

including all the keyboard shortcuts, see the WebXealot.

I would point you there but my computer has been taken over by internal demons and it is all I can do to connect to this conference.

I am not kidding, this has really gotten out of hand.

If only Xara had more manpower behind them, they could turn out a specially adapted DTP version of Xara X - the mind boggles at what you could do with a tool like that!

if you cut and paste from a Word document which has TAB-columns, it will show up in Xara.

I found this out last week when I was cutting and pasting a number-list like yours in which the tabs were used for indenting (I needed to spell check so I did the list initially in Word). However, once you delete the tabbed spacing, you can't restore it nor can you specify the spacing intervals of the tabbed info via Xara's ruler so this technique has a limited usefulness. Never the less, it maybe helpful in aligning text without have to use spaces.

Sounded so good, I had to post it again.

I always use XaraX when doing flyers and brochures. Hence missing facilities found in DTP programmes I have found a lot of ways to get around problems. In this flyer i typed all information in the table into Excel. Then i copied row after row into Xara to create the table i wanted. You can judge the result.
