    Default Terrific artist. Fantastic presentation

Tom Palmore is an incredible realist painter of animals. He is currently having a show of his drawings in Santa Fe.

On the gallery website they have a flip book style catalog of Tom's drawings. This is such an effective way of presenting drawings and photos.

    Very awesome work!

I ran into a renowned "pen artist" from Japan, Kaoru Hashimoto, at Japanese book store in Arlington Heights, IL yesterday. (I don't normally go places to encounter artists...)

Tom is a painter and his paintings are large and detailed down to each hair. This I believe is his first showing of sketches.

    Awesome Gary, thanks for sharing.
I agree on the presentation, very simple and efficient.

    My favorite is the cougar.

Those are awesome art works by Tom! Even the hair is very fine.

Very talented, but I confess that these just leave me cold. I am in awe of the skill required to create them, but there's no emotional connection for me.

I sorta agree with Paul... these are technically excellent, but do they stimulate my imagnation... no.... with the exception of the donkey [welcome to the wild west] who has an expression I can relate to, and which puts thoughts in my head which is the point of art for me

the rest don't actually say anything [apart of course to remind me I am nowhere near this clever a technical draghtsman]

Every one of those is simply awesome.
Art doesn't have to move me. Art doesn't have to give me a warm feeling.
I just enjoy good art, and that artwork is absolutely brilliant.

the technique is outstanding .... and I dare say commercial...

but to what extent does it display originality ?

ok - we all have our own way of judging these things

let me put it this way - you can be the most clever orator ever, or the most brilliant writer - but hey, you gotta have something to say ! - for me art is no different, except it's probably closer to poetry...

I agree that they are very skilfully drawn and the presentation method works really well, but they also leave me a bit cold too. When viewing I think you are meant to consider the title too. For example, 'Humpty Trumpty sat on a wall' makes a more sense if you have a well known public figure in mind!

I also understand the artists intention slightly more after reading the introduction explaining they were deliberately meant to be whimsical and characterful. I’ve also taken that to mean anthropomorphic. Look at the intriguing (creepy) looking man/dog in 'Best Frenemies'!

Having something relevant to say (with my creative output) has always been my big problem. Questions like, "What is the ‘intention' behind my work",
"What do I want the work to achieve?" and "What themes, ideas and concerns does my work uniquely consider?" have always troubled me.
