No. Sadly, that doesn't work. I went all the way through to just before pressing the [Confirm payment] button. Twice. Once with Xara open and once with it closed.
Still the same message.
(That's a bit of a sledgehammer approach isn't it? )
No. That doesn't work either. The message still appears on every single start.
I've been somewhat distracted (understatement) since I first saw the message and haven't been using Xara much. Now that I'm coming back to using Xara regularly, the message is becoming an increasing nuisance.
It's not so much the message itself, it's the [deleted] arrogance of the approach: "If you don't pay up, we'll keep irritating you until you do."

you are not alone in that view and Xara have been made well aware of it here - it is magix who do this of course...

Acorn - installed Xara software: Cloud+/Pro+ and most others back through time (to CC's Artworks). Contact for technical remediation/consultancy for your web designs.
When we provide assistance, your responses are valuable as they benefit the community. TG Nuggets you might like. Report faults: Xara Cloud+/Pro+/Magix Legacy; Xara KB & Chat
you could try blocking it in a firewall, unless you need continual web access

Thanks. I never thought of that.
I created an Outbound rule based on PhotoGraphicDesigner.exe and that appears to work. No more message repeatedly touting the update service.
Bonus: it also blocks the "Would you like [insert name of other program I don't want]?" pop-ups.
In Xara, going Help | Check for updates, it now comes back with "You need to be online to use this feature."
Thank you again.
You do have a point up to a point?! But, either way, it's madness. Something like this would drive me bonkers! I just stopped using Xara completely. Nagging to me is pointless, but sooner or later there's only so you can put up with.
Sooner, or later there's got to be a breaking point... or as some say a cracking point, which makes all the nagging 100% useless and detrimental to the bottom line.
