    Exclamation Software will NOT download!

I have just purchased Xara Web Designer Premium

Downloaded the installer via the link sent in email, but when running the installer, it 'spins' for a while, then a 'pause' symbol appears, and then nothing.
The "CONTINUE" button is available to click, which I do, but the same thing happens. Subsequently, I am unable to download the software.

I have turned off my firewall, my anti-virus software but to no avail.

    Someone please help.

    Using Windows 10 Pro.

Try the link on this page - https://www.xara.com/uk/web-designer/download/.

Tried it myself for XDPX, which is ~180MB and I didn't touch registry or AV protection settings.

I tried what I suggested and the download goes to the Magix Installer (https://www.xara.com/uk/downloads/start/?product=webdesigner365premium32). When I tried this it only offers up v15!. XDPX, however, was a straight application executable.

I would hold off until Xara gets its ducks in a row; it seems to have a release management issue.

Thanks all - requested a refund which has been processed. I explained the issues I was having, but they didn't even try to help, and have just gone ahead with the refund
Think I may have had a lucky escape. Will look elsewhere for a WYSIWIG editor or just learn Joomla/Wordpress.

OK, convinced it wasn't the software at fault, and was my laptop, I have completely re-installed Windows 10 (it was long overdue to be honest).

The software now installs! I have zero idea what the problem was, but...but....

    It doesn't scale to a 4K screen!

I tried adjusting the DPI settings to be compatible, but the toolbar and icons are TINY!

Does this "pro" software really not scale to 4K DPI?

I have a 17" 4K laptop, and this sort of thing should really not be a problem in 2019...

    Any ideas?

I have trialled this software on a 1080p screen, and I like it, but on my 4K screen, it is 'blurry', and I wouldn't be comfortable using it.

This is clearly the best WYSIWYG on the market, so this is a real blow to me.

Fabulous! I've just spent £50 on a product I can't use. Time to cancel, get a refund and look elsewhere. I don't do bad omens I'm afraid.

    restart your computer

run the installer in admin mode

do not turn off the firewall or av

did you purchase this from magix/xara

edit - in the link acorn posted that xara recommend turing off registry protection software - that is not the same thing as firewall or av, although some may have registry protection functions and those can be disabled, but never a good idea to disable everything
