    Default Tupolev ANT=25

This old drawing of the ungainly Russian Tupolev ANT-25 aircraft with a 112 foot wingspan first flew in 1933. Built to go the distance it could remain in the air for 75 hours and cover up to 8000 miles. It held several records at the time.

I don't think so, Gary. Just trying to show their aircraft design abilities I believe. Tupolev and some of the designers were arrested and put in jail. Typical of the Soviets back then. I guess they did something the state didn't like.

Great pic. Gray. I wonder why back then the state arrested Tupolev and some of the designers as it seems to me to have been a great aircraft at the time. I don't suppose we will ever know.

Another great drawing and interesting story to go with it. I keep thinking about how the pilots must have shared flying duties and got any sleep on those long flights!

Thanks stygg. I believe the charges were sabotage and espionage. I think Russia was a dangerous place to live back then.
Jono thanks, It would be mind numbing to be in the air for 75 hours. I would guess the crew of three took turns.
