I have some rather old xara files I want to update but I get the message 'unable to find th filter to import that file with'. Some of them are only a year or two old. I'm worried that they might have been corrupted. Anyone had this problem?

The file opened OK for me. But I have seen this error message before. Maybe Acorn or Siran or Egg or... will have a better answer.
What happens after you get the error message? I did a search for "unable to find the filter" and here is what I came up with https://duckduckgo.com/?q=unable+to+...&t=ffsb&ia=web
Check this page and see if any of these shed any light.

seadog, the file opens fine in everything I have back to v12.
What exactly are you doing to get the error message?
Acorn
Acorn - installed Xara software: Cloud+/Pro+ and most others back through time (to CC's Artworks). Contact for technical remediation/consultancy for your web designs.
When we provide assistance, your responses are valuable as they benefit the community. TG Nuggets you might like. Report faults: Xara Cloud+/Pro+/Magix Legacy; Xara KB & Chat
Opens fine for me seadog.
Egg
Intel i7 - 4790K Quad Core + 16 GB Ram + NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1660 Graphics Card + MSI Optix Mag321 Curv monitor + Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB SSD + 232 GB SSD + 250 GB SSD portable drive + ISP = BT + Web Hosting = TSO Host
I occasionally get this odd message. I find that drag & dropping the file onto Xara's title bar often bypasses this odd error.

I'm really stabbing in the dark here, but this may be a Windows problem rather than a Xara problem. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Xara utilise Windows filters?
This file appears to be a single (jpeg?). Can you view standard pictures like jpg, png, bmp directly from Windows Explorer, seadog? What version of Windows do you have?
