Folks,

I am considering a switch .....

from Elements to PhotoImpact.

But .... I need to know, does PI8 support the editing of 48 bit color images (16 bits per color)? I have found that levels adjustments on 24 bit images produces a lot of lost data and interpolation.

Thank you.

You can use the Format commands in PI8 to edit 48 bit images, but the tools in the Tool Panel (paintbrush, retouch, etc.) won't work, nor will the Effect commands.

Of course you can always use the regular 24 bit tools, then change the graphic to 48 bit for the final editing.
I'm curious, what does 48 bits do for you? I've never played with it.

... bits to keep track on. I just learned to count to 32 - now there is 16 more?!

I'm curious, what are those extra 16 good for?

Thanks for the link Gidgit. It is, indeed, an eye-opening article.
