Default Re: Testing if TG handles SVGs as Inserted Images

Hi was watching this thread as I have 3D printer and use Xara to draw some of my designs
and export as SVG then use Tinkercad to assemble the parts (tied Fusion360) but got overwhelmed

@Egg, thank you for confirming what TG does.

The TG admin could create a custom BBCode [SVG][/SVG] to handle width and height. There is no scaling for [IMG][/IMG].

I took your https://parkeston.com/svg/tg-x-is.svg image into a Blank photo template, scaled it to 300x200px and saved back out at 300dpi.
I also used https://jakearchibald.github.io/svgomg/ to tidy up the SVG.

    Original: tg-x-is.svg
    Tidied: tg-x-is (1).svg

Quite a lot of faffing about...

I forgot that I published a side-by-side comparison of SVG over PNG - zoom to 500% or higher to see the difference: http://acorn.xara.hosting/TG/.

The SVG is about half the size of the PNG so downloads are (far) quicker but the (slight) burden is passed to the browser rendering.

The power of SVG emerges the winner as it can be manipulated (as Egg showed in an earlier Thread).

I mainly wanted to leverage the TG quality of image presentation, which would also allow direct vector import back into a Xara Desktop application.

    Vector over raster.
