Looks interesting and it looks a lot like Xara and more. Maybe what Xara would look like if they built a new version from scratch instead of adding features to the existing site.

Also in their comparison chart "Plan" it shows Lifetime license for $199US but then further down the list it says Free updates for 1 year! (So it also looks like updates will cost extra.

I'm going to move this thread to Off Topic Chat.

OK It says it is a WordPress plug in or a Joomla Extension. They do have what looks like a web-based stand alone product.

Yes desktop stand alone as well as web. The export for wordpress is a plugin. They are the same company that made artisteer and later Themler, now they repackaged everything to this. So not sure how solid the support or the membership numbers are. Still they go by boxes and rows etc... That alone makes me dislike it a bit.

    From themler support

'Many Themler users were requesting the simpler design tool and the content editor. We have implemented those requests. Nicepage is fast, intelligent and easy-to-use. It allows creating modern designs based on any source in minutes. You can use an existing website, social network account or even a folder with images to create a modern and unique page just in seconds. We will be glad if you become Nicepage user in the future.
You can try it out in trial mode first.

    Themler Support'

It seems software companies are good at moving camps and stiffing their dedicated user base.

Look what the Lion did with MUSE for example.

And more from Staff at Themler/Nicepage

    '
Themler and Nicepage are two quite different applications. Themler is an advanced tool where you can edit almost any aspect of the controls and theme in general. Nicepage is really simple and easy to use tool for content editing and theme creation. But at some point, Nicepage is limited in its functionality. But it allows creating a webpage in minutes using any source. We suggest that you try Nicepage in order to decide whether you want to move to Nicepage or not. or maybe you decide that you want to use both tools for different tasks.http://nicepage.com
    Thank you,
    Olivia'

There are all sorts of reasons why companies do the things they do and no company sets about upsetting paying users.

Companies don't give up on products that make them money or they think will make them money, but like any other business they must look after the bottom line.

Software has a lifetime. Technologies change and evolve and often software products can't adapt.

Stop fussing about evil software companies and be flexible enough to do your work regardless of any single software product.

Be flexible and don't expect perfection from any software product. Use the tools you have access to and don't expect to find a perfect alternative.

Despite its hype, it doesn't have the design overlap it claims. I only played with the on-line version but noticed the desktop version "imports" from other websites.
If you therefore wanted an adaptive solution you could use Xara to master the design elements and NicePage to generate the variants.

It doesn't have all the clever things Xara offers around pop-up layers and rollover effects. Embedding of code is CSS to the page.

It seems to have a slickness about its web aspects that Xara lacks but Xara is the designer winner.

    Blend the two?
