designer pro x and eye candy 4000 chrome plugin

Exactly this question, Alien Skin Eye Candy 4000 is pretty old now, I bought it years ago but it's still handy from time to time, e.g. good for metallic effects but I'm now getting 'A general error occurred while rendering the preview image' just when I select the 'Chrome' option, all the others seem OK.

I'm using XDP 15.1 and the Chrome effect renders fine. Perhaps you could try it with another object/image and/or in a new file.
