    Default Microsoft Edge

I made the mistake of adding Microsoft Edge to my browsers and have regretted it almost immediately. Whenever my computer goes into "Sleep Mode" the moment I activate it Microsoft Edge pops up. Very seldom does it not pop up. Does anyone know how to deactivate or keep it from popping up unless I want it to? Thanks for all help.

There's something else at play here. I can assure you that Edge does not behave this way and you can't add Edge, it's an integral part of Windows 10; it's always been there.

Don't know if this helps but you can change the default web browser application and other options in Windows settings.

Like Chris M says it sounds like something else is making Edge popup. Have you tried 'End task' Edge in the Task Manager?

this is likely the fault of windows spotlight [background image settings for lock screen] - try resetting it, the bing search may be hanging

    Good Tuesday Morning Members,

Thank each of you for responding. I am a brand new user of Microsoft 10. Actually, I don't see the need for Edge since it seems to replicate Explorer. It's just another browser that looks like it does the same thing as Explorer? At any rate I very much appreciate each of you taking time away from your activities to respond to my need for help. I will try each suggestion here. Thank you again.

edge replaces microsoft internet explorer for browsing in windows 10

internet explorer is still there because some programs [eg xara] need it to run in the background - but it is no longer supported for browsing in windows 10, and therefore to avoid problems and security issues, you should no longer be using it for browsing in windows 10

chrome and firefox are worth a try - chrome is the most popular, even microsoft uses chrome for some things

bob, Internet Explorer (IE) has had its day and is so open to hacking and it is a burden to MS that it will eventually drop it; Edge was MS's solution but even here MS is moving the underlying codebase to Chromium.
Xara, sadly, has yet to move with the times and its Desktop applications are still welded into IE.
