Default You can't normally reshape an image with the Mould Tool ...

But I think these give a fairly decent example of what you can't easily do in Xara. Any ideas how they were created? Second one may be due to Brexit.

Vectorized the pics by tracing them?

Spot on Boy I used Inkscape to trace the photos, as suggested by Gare. Ony problem with gifs is they have a maximum of 256 colours.

Art brushes offer a sort of workaround in Xara Designer that can take a full colour bitmap as input and "mould" it without tracing.

The shape of the "mould" is formed by the curve of the line, the width profile and the end caps style.

Out of curiosity, when was this first "discovered" as I had thought I had not seen any mention prior to https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...521#post607521. Equally, has anyone then rotated the image 90° or other angle before making another brush as this allows for the moulding to take on a meshed effect. If anyone, it ought to have been Angelize.

This is a great tip. I've used PGD for years and never thought to do this. Art brushes are a bit of a hidden gem.

It would be great if these 'hidden' nuggets of knowledge were all collected together and made available somewhere.

I'm not sure this is a particularly useful example but I made it as a reminder to myself of the creative possibilities.
