Default The 'Mold' Tool... What am I missing about this tool?

I don't get it... ALL vectors, shapes & text can have Envelopes AND Perspectives applied to them...

But it seems that images/bitmaps can ONLY have Perspectives applied. Envelopes just seem to 'crop' the image

I need to wrap an image 'around' a cup and need Envelope to do it...

What am I doing wrong? (I hope I AM doing something wrong) - I tried to convert the image 10 different ways to no avail...

    Thank you....

    Cliff

You're doing nothing wrong, it's just that this feature is very limited. For years members have been making requests to update the 'Mould Tool.'

CorelDRAW, many many years ago when I used it had this ability. But I suspect if it were an easy thing to integrate with the current code it would have been done.

I see... and while I was waiting for the answer... an hour searching the forum also gave me the answer... you guys have just confirmed...

SO... SCENARIO: To all the 'Pro-Designers' on the forum...

    1. You receive a call from a potential client for a job.
    2. The job is a wine bottle label wrapped to the front of the bottle.
    3. They supply their logo and an image. (bitmaps)

NOW... What are you going to do?

I suspect I'm going to hear; "do it it AI / PS" or "Affinity Photo" etc... AND... if that's the case....

It seems totally absurd that an app call 'DESIGNER PRO' would have a user need to do that...

Oh well, I may have found a 'new' main freakin' annoyance with the program I love... and love to hate... (at times) sheeeeeeesh...........

I am moving this to Dear Xara with hopes that the developers will revisit this feature.

If the image is not too big and complex, you could try to do a bitmap trace. This will convert it into a set of vector shapes that can be molded by the Mould Tool. I'm not sure if simulating a label on a bottle is easy to achieve, so first try using a simple shape.

Gary... I lv ya and say this with all due respect... I hate answers like that... What good does the fact that you "suspect if it were an easy.........etc" One of the things about forums that bug me no end...

Am I, or another who NEEDS this feature supposed to say... "oh, well in that case, I totally understand?" I for one don't give a good hoot (not the word I would like to use) about how difficult the coding is...

Ok, I vented... feel better... don't be mad at me G...
