    Default Latest update

    Rob states:

    https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...210#post607210

    (4) Reverted a change that affects the way groups and Navigation Bars are exported, fixing an issue where Navigation Bars appear out of place or sub-menus failed to show.
I've tried to create my own navbars once more and still get horrible offset buttons.

Am I misunderstanding your comment Rob?

My experience is different. If I follow a specific build sequence, then the buttons work as advertised. Perhaps we could see the build steps that are not working for you. I am using the Mar 13 ver. In my build sequence I select separate images, then immediately re-select one image (never applying separate images) which permits the Apply action to be available. I Apply as one image and proceed from there. I would hope that this little extra step could be eliminated but the annoyance permits me to at least make a nav bar. The one image is the default but, apparently, not fully applied. Thus the extra song and dance to apply it.

I create a button shape. Add text and group. In the Image dialog I select the export as separate items option.

Copy the grouped button to the clipboard and paste and edit a duplicate on the mouse over layer.

From the mouse off layer, select both grouped buttons and Apply Soft Group.

Add pages and create a Nav bar.

Egg - Is that a NavBar group that was saved with the "seperate images for group members option" still checked?

Gary - Yes, it's expect to fail if you select that option. We reversed the default option, if you apply it again it will break.

I opted for a more circuitous route.

    Make Text
    Make Box
    Group Both
    Open Web Prop, Image
Select Separate but don't Apply. (Default is One Image but Apply greyed)
Select One Image and now Apply.
    Link Group to Index page
    Copy Group to MouseOver
    Edit MouseOver
    Soft Group both
    Complete using Nav Menu.

Works for full and consolidated menus (hamburger.) This works for me. Hope it works for others.

In general, the XARA navbars features are ok I guess... they're workable.
But I just don't don't like the whole system. I can't place my finger on exactly why it's just uncomfortable to use...
Well, I guess I can place my finger(s) on what I don't like... but I'm too tired... and you folks have been over it before...

And since I depend on Xara for... well... EVERYTHING! LOL - I just decided (a long time ago) to learn to make my own navbars...
I template them, and have them when I need them...

So here's one that I created on a small simple index type webpage.

I much prefer creating my own nav bars like this one on my home page www.gwpriester.com

But the off the peg nav bars are great for people who are not designers but who want to build a functioning website.
