What I see is that the rectangles, near the bottom centre recede into the background, like they have been cut and bent back at an angle, with each rectangle going further backwards and at an angle. The spirals follow along on the background - they are not raised above it. Is this correct, Gary?

John - Yes.
Each square section has a 1/4 conical fill and each blends stops with one value and the next square starts with that value and ends darker.
Attached is the depth image showing the squares in the rectangle and one large 1/4 conical fill.
I outlined each square in red to show the individual shapes.

Yep, I can see that, Gary. The square spirals back into the shape. Very cool indeed.
It took a bit of un-concentrating(?) but I saw it in the end. Very nice!
