Many thanks you all for the replies!

I have a shortcut attached to "paste>size", so resizing was so easy to achieve:
    Ctrl+C then Alt+V(paste>size)
I can't imagine any way to resize (based on other size) easier than "Ctrl+C then Alt+V(paste>size)".

Anyway, I just did an experience. Screencast: http://bit.ly/2T0pmBf
With lock aspect ratio on, I copied the width of the reference image, then pasted into the width of the destination image.
It works for a single image, but to multiple selected images the destination width is applied to the group.
And using my old method "Ctrl+C then Alt+V(paste>size)" I could batch change dozens of images at once.

I'm sad with the so-called "improvement":

By pasting size raster images being croped doesn't make sense. I can't see usage for that, but how I'm start missing the image resizing. Could we ask "dear xara" to review it non-sense behavior?

Would a Mod move this Thread to the (Oh) Dear Xara forum please.

While this won't help with batch Paste Size operations, for single images, a workaround is to manually reduce the size of the destination image to make it smaller than what you intend to by paste sizing. Then, when you Paste Size, the image will be rescaled up when you Paste Size.

Not an ideal solution, but until this is fixed, it's one way to do it. I am actually hoping this is a bug and not a "feature". It certainly does not match the description as outlined in the help file.

Note: I have logged a technical support ticket with Magix/Xara regarding this issue to see what they say.

    Hi,

Recently, in response to ticket#2019021917003517 Xara support said:
I have consulted the Development Team and have just received an update from their side. The crop issue should be fixed in the next patch (this would be released via an automated update of the system)
I just installed the patch (16.2.0.56957), however, the crop issue remains the same.
Does anyone realize if this fix was addressed somehow, and if so how to proceed to "paste size" truly, instead of cropping?

    Thank you!
    Carlos

it seems back to normal with a designer pro trial clean install 16.2.0.56957 june 5 2019 - maybe there is an issue with the update patch?

I believe the paste size option depends on the aspect ratio of the object you are pasting to. If it is the same (i.e. pasting the size of a square object from another square), it will scale it down. If the aspect ratio is different, it will crop.

Rob, only if a Photo. If a shape with a Fill, a rectangular Paste Size scales both X- & Y-axes.
