But works for PDF 1.3 through 1.7. PDF/X wasn't raised in OP request.

PDF XChange Viewer is free and will add a password when you save.

    Download is URL is https://www.tracker-software.com/pro...xchange-viewer

How to password protect using PDF XChange URL is https://www.tracker-software.com/kno...s-to-documents

It's been a while since I've used XChange, but it has far more options than the Adobe offering.

Chris, I bought PDF-Exchange PRO a time back and keep it up-to-date as I find it very versatile.

I use PDF XChange Editor FREE version, as I've not had a need for any of the PRO features. Great software ... I do however, find that TRACKER SOFTWARE is an unfortunate choice of name ...

The name, Tracker Software, might be unfortunate in this day and age. But it wasn't back in the day. I first purchased software from them in the early/mid 1990s. They made PDF routines for, among other programming languages, Clarion Software (later renamed Topspeed). It was great PDF software for rapid development (4G) applications.

Ah, them were the days. Still have several robust applications out and about.

    Mike
