If you haven't already done it, delete the files from the background layer to keep things tidy and light.

I used to have trouble with layers . All I want to do is jump in and do stuff, not worry about which bit is on which layer. I've played around with quite a few graphics programs and Xara was the only one that made some form of sense to me. My brain accepts moving a file upwards and downwards on a list in a section, but struggles when the exact same list isn't grouped under headings. We humans are strange creatures.
