http://mary-carter.com/paintings.html (Refresh the page because the photo links have changed).

Done! I should have just done this from the start. Each gallery is now in a its own folder with the first page in each named index.html.

On my connection which is cable there is no hesitation going from the main site to the sub folders and back.

Gary, it's good but I have lost all sense of place and number of painting there might be. i think you still need some thumbs too.

OK In a bow to Acorn I added the small dots to the top of each gallery (F5 to refresh the pages) that indicate the number of images and the current image on screen.

Egg - There were a few images that were tall and I adjusted around them for the copyright notice. It is also included in the page descriptions.

I think you're missing my point Gary. Personally I rarely have my browser size at full screen resolution. I attach a screengrab of my approx normal viewing set-up. The point I'm trying to put across is:
1: I shouldn't need to scroll down to find the paintings name and details.
2: Your copyright text should not be dependant on srolling esspecially when all your pages are the same size and in my case off the page.

I agree that you can't dictate the size of a visitors browsers content unless it's responsive.
