    Default PNG not transparent

Can someone please help me here:
The Koala image is a PNG so should be transparent. But if I import it into my Graphic Designer program it still has a background. How can it be removed? I need the line work only, transparent background.

Your image is a PNG, but, like your image, a PNG doesn't need to contain transparency.

to export PNG from xara and preserve the transparency you need to select the colour depth option true colour + alpha

if you have a true colour only PNG and you want to remove the white background - which program and which version are you using?

    Welcome to TG I Mutz.

The Koala image is a PNG so should be transparent.
    INCORRECT:
A png can contain either transparency (Alpha) or none depending on how it was created.

YOUR PNG HAS NO TRANSPARENCY, it has a white background.

Looks transparent set against a white background but change the background to pale blue & you can see the image retains it’s white background, not a transparent one at all.

Here's one with the white background removed

that's ok on a light backrond egg but a bit weak maybe on a dark one...

    how about this:

    koala.xar

can't post the png as the forum is insisting in turning it into a jpg [which loses transparency of course]

I believe that P&GD6 includes MEHDI ERASER in the FX ... that will adequately remove the white background.

Here's what I would do. On a white page, apply a Flat, Stained Glass transparency.

Now, create a bitmap copy, True Color + Alpha Transparency. The result is a PNG with no white background.
