Default Faster slider than the widget

What is a faster slider to use in xara than the one it comes with? Even though I have crunched down the size of my images,
it takes a while to appear (assuming it is hosted with xara).

I hear Sliders are a bad thing for SEO but they are still being used and requested.

Found this. Let me know if it is useful to implement into xara?

behzad, I think the trick is to be able to separate all the images from the Xara design file and store them within your domain.
That way, you do not rely on Xara servers throttling download speeds or having to accommodate a widget where it does not know the size of the slider.

Now I use WOW Slider but this costs that I modestly recoup from my customers.

I was about to look into Sudo: http://webbies.dk/SudoSlider/help/#Designers%20guide, which does not seem to come with much baggage.

You would load a slider with a single image (e.g. <img src="[SitePathUrl]/images/01.jpg" alt="image description"/>) and then when the DOM has fully loaded (i.e., everything done to act as a very quick rendering) then after DOM complete, a means to use the insertSlide method for the remainder of your slider content.

If you include the ALT parameter then SEO is less likely to complain.

@Acorn about wow slider, do you have 2 variations for mobile and desktop or every variant?

behzad, I go to the extreme of putting the slider into a separate design file and using Embed a website widget for each Variant.

    Hi Behzad and Acorn,

I use JSSOR and am very happy with it, it's very versatile and support is fast directly from the developer. They are based in I think Shanghai China and are steadily adding new features, if you need text editing on the slides like I do then this might be the best slider for you. It's a web service with the server on the USA east coast, I'm in Spain and it's very fast for me, virtually no latency that I notice. I download the slider files (one .html and an images folder) and then upload to my UK server and it displays in an iframe inside my Xara site on the same server. I've never noticed any issues with it and loads quickly, you can control the lazy loading so it doesn't have to load the entire slider before it appears. I just have lots of static images in my sliders and don't use any of the motion features (yep boring sliders!) but from the demos on the site they look pretty slick and versatile too.

I even used it to make a small temporary site for mobile phone visitors and it passes the Google mobile friendly test perfectly. It's cheap too, I pay around 10 or 12 $/year and am very happy with it, give JSSOR a spin if you haven't found a slider already.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about JSSOR and I'll answer them.

    Cheers, Kevin
