    Thanks Rik,

I assumed to make it in xara but as you said and is shown, there are a multitude of ways to achieve this.

There are bound to be many answers. And it was great to get feedback from members.

I had done something similar to what Gary suggested.
And started off similar to what you suggested, but, didn't know how to go further and finish the job. I just didn't look at the fact that I could drag the rounded corner handles to the edge. Which is strange because I adjust the rounded corner handles of squares and rectangles all the time!

So, for your answer, I present you with a certificate!

Cheers siran, here is a static demo of the fact it measures the same height in every direction, without the need to drag or shape anything.

The animation is only showing the problem with rotating triangles about their centres but I thought it was interesting as well: Constant Breadth Rotor.xar.

I didn't understand your method at first, Acorn.
However, the xara file shows exactly what you mean.
    I like it.

haakoo's method allows the curvature to be adjusted.
Your method gives a more rounded arc.

So, you too are deserving of a certificate.

Rik, thank you. I read more into your "exactly the same" part.

In passing, constant breadth rotors are use in pumps, GB 20 & 50p coins, Canadian Dollar ("loonie"), Wankel engines and for cutting square holes!

You can create a quickshape triangle and with the shape tool click on the middle of one of the sides while pressing shift and all the sides will be modified the same at the same time

That method doesn't produce curved edges.
Unless there's something I've missed in your instructions.
Perhaps you could give us some step-by-step instructions?

Rik, it does and always has done. The problem is not of the meta keys help in constraining the shape to keep it symmetrical.

a quick look at this - I agree with Rik about curved edges - it produces flats... also I cannot see a difference between shft and no shift here... ?
