Default Calibrating Display colors on HP desktop Windows 10 Home Edition

I've done some research, but I still don't understand how to calibrate my screen display to display as accurately as possible the colors I'm seeing on my screen. I have NEVER installed any application for this purpose, so I want to understand how I should go about calibrating the colors on my computer's screen.

Anyone understand what I'm trying to accomplish?

Ron, without spending money, have your tried the MS Windows calibrate utility?

You can also play with http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/contrast_ratio.php.

I am assuming you are not looking for a physical colorimeter?

    Thank you, sir.
I've tried the Windows 10 app and followed the https://www.windowscentral.com/how-c...tor-windows-10 instructions for Window 10, but you know, this happens every time I do something like this. The instructions to access menus on my Windows 10 Home Edition never match what they're describing.

Anyway, I worked through it, doing the best I could in calibrating all the different aspects (using both the Windows sample screen AND a drawing I'm working on in Xara, switching back an forth) It looks better as far as seeing certain detail MUCH better, but not so good as far as depth of color and brightness. I know I can keep monkeying with it to try and reach a better display, but I keep going back and forth correcting gamma, brightness, gray scale and color that I just can't seem to reach a satisfying medium.

It's probably MY poor vision. I am what I am.

Thanks again for your help, Acorn.
