If someone tried to make me dig my own grave I would say No.

Very (very!) cool. And we can expect the how-to when?
Big Frank, you've got it. Was it done in Xara X? How?

Yup

A bit of this, a bit of that, and a pinch of Selective Simplification...

Here's how I did the Red Planet - all in XaraX and not a salt or pepper shaker to be seen!
Apologies in advance for the hefty image size

Both on the task and the mini-tut. I wondered if you had drawn the individual pieces. I took the easy route and tried to use fractal fills and embossing to get it. Very nicely done and thanks for the how-to.
Frank, it's fairly good - except that the texture is flat as a pancake, and not "curved" as it would be on a real sphere. But a lovely mini-tutorial!

Coming from you, that's verging on ebulliant enthusiasm! Are you feeling alright?

That's what happens when you employ Selective Simplification - you lose the touchy-feelyness of Photo-Realism, but any fool can copy a photo

Thanx for the tips BF.
And like he said, "Apologies in advance for (adding to) the hefty image size."
I don't know how I let this thread get away from me.
This is not quite on topic but it was fun anyway.
