I didn't realize it was you I was responding to! Glad to hear you're getting Painter 7. While you wait for it, visit PixelAlley and read the Painter 7 pages. They're all linked from the right side of this page:

    http://www.pixelalley.com/pixelalley...ons-pages.html

Be sure to read everything on each page and download the PDF files and custom brush variants. Just put the custom brush variants in a folder by themselves until you learn how to manage Painter 7 brushes. They're completely different from earlier versions of Painter. They're .XML text files that contain the "formula" to tell Painter how to build the brush. They're managed in folders instead of the earlier Painter versions' Brush Mover. It takes a bit of getting used to but since they're .XML files, they're cross platform so everyone's in brush heaven creating and sharing new brushes all the time.

The PDF files are John Derry's Visual Guides for Painter 7 Water Colors, Liquid Ink, and Keystroke Shortcuts, and one from Karen Sperling that's a Quick Reference Guide for Water Colors.

Painter 7 Water Color brush technology is brand new and different from earlier version Water Colors, so the earlier version Water Color brushes don't work the same in Painter 7 if you load them. A lot of people keep both Painter 6 and Painter 7 on their system to use both, for each of the versions has special things in their Water Color brush characteristics.

Lots to learn, but it's a great version.
