It seems fair to say that most people here already have Xara so the question is, what would you be willing to pay for an upgrade?

I don't know if this is something that Kate and the team are even thinking about at this point, but I think that illustrating what kind of financial interest this forum has in a Xara update would help fuel its completion.

It would also seem reasonable to offer upgrades to people who use competing products. Xara stands head and shoulders above their competition in speed, transparency, and ease of use that this would probably help them increase sales. More so than consumer friendly software I would imagine.

I think they would gain more from selling competitive upgrades than they would lose by forcing new users to buy the full version.

I too am on a budget like so many folks here but if you have a previous version then Xara Ltd. would, of course, offer a discount (30% or something like that) and that way the price is more like $100.00.

We can all cry "cheap and fast" but Xara Ltd. has to make a profit in order to keep this baby running. Or you could try DrawPlus 7 and then you would know that XaraX is a great product and if they need to higher the price, so be it, I'm all for it and will pay the price, even full price if I need too!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    Ya i'd choose $149 also.

Compared to the "other" programs, that's steal.

If the upgrade will only contain bells and whistles for web stuff (like menu maker and screen saver animations) I wouldn't care to pay much. On the other hand I will gladly pay more for multiple pages and CMYK bitmap support

Not knocking DP, as I stated in my posts on PP I think it's a fine program and plan on the upgrade when 8 comes out and hopefully they will have their stuff together a bit better in the speed and object selections areas (and a few other things as well). Their upgrade prices can NOT be beaten, no arguement there!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I still use PP PDF and WP, so I still am connected to Serif, gladly!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I think they would give us more than just a 'web features' upgrade, I don't think there is much to worry about. They hear us loud and clear, I'm sure, but the silence is deafening at times, eh? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I wouldn't object to paying $149-199 ... but as others have said, I would expect my money's worth.
