Default Normal text style defaults to original style NOT the updated style.

This has bugged me for a long while. If I update normal text style to match it updates, but on entering more normal text it defaults to the original text style plus the Normal text +

Likely because the template has not been updated and or the file saved, Xara application closed and reopened. Not saying that's the way it should work, but that's the way it seems to work.

However, if in the new text box you change to a different style, then change it back to the normal style it should be honoring the change.

Not disagreeing re the update/saved file Mike but if that's the case it's cack-handed. I can select part of the text and it tells me its Heading 1. I can select all of the text and it's telling me it's Heading 1. However if I click inside the text and hit Esc to select all the text it informs me it's Heading 1+ which is a nonsense.

It's not new, it's been around for several releases.

Egg, I can confirm this is the case for your example.
The irritation is if you try this on the default Heading 1, the problem is not there.

mwenz, I have saved and checked & closed and re-opened and checked and I still get the Bug.

If Heading 1 is followed by a newline then you can traverse all the text and the (+) does not appear.

It is an edge test case that Xara probably missed.

    Hi Egg, Acorn

Thanks for reporting this! I tried to reproduce this and couldn't, either was fixed somewhere on the way or it's a matter of some settings. I'll investigate further.

Could you please state your software version?

Hi Egg, I can reproduce this if I disable 'Give new objects most recent attributes' . Please can you confirm whether you have this option disabled?

I always have it shut off.

I am thinking this should not be needed to be turned on for a style to not revert to the template setting. Once a style is updated, as long as there is not a "Next Style" feature as in layout and other drawing software, it should simply be the updated style.

    Thanks, Mike

Thanks Mwenz. It looks like normal text is updated to match the new style. but with this option disabled, adding an additional text line/col/area will default to the original normal text style.
