Mike, the first thing to do is DON'T PANIC. Reread Post#3; 365 is just marketing..
Pay your £89 today, tomorrow or in a week; Magix is playing mind games with the expiry of their perpetual (high) discount. Once paid, keep v12 and download v15 and add your registration details.

When chilled, read through TG and find articles on how to safely download all the Online Content catalogue and not get trapped again.

    Good luck,

Thanks for your advice ....guess I will have to pay £89 just to get to download the online content which is not worth the money......not much has changed...... or will just move to wordpress ..... why would they want to upset loyal customers.

Mike, i let my XWDP lapse so I have v12 and I spend the money on XaraTemplates.com X Builder. I renewed XDPX but went for all the templates in XaraTemplates.com as a mega-bundles. Overall, it cost more but I considered it an investment boh in Xara and XaraTemplates.com. You, and others, can decide what works.

Much of the on-line content is repackaging with some new, innovative, but unproven additions. I have the skill to design around and through such challenges. v15 seriously affected workflow with the squishing and squashing debacle in v15.0, now fixed in v15.1 and the "always on" aspect of Text Inside.

just been looking at the XaraTemplates.com XBuilder and it looks like a better bet than the upgrade which as you say is much ado about nothing and not good value.
    Thanks for the Advice.

I just installed my second copy today on my laptop. Mine was called "365" as well which apparently means a year of "free updates", but it is actually version 12.

version 12 was the first version released under the '365' update model as was marketed as such - with the release of version 15 they [magix/xara] seem to have gone back to selling it under the version name

My program listings are curious. They are listed in Windows Programs and Features precisely as follows:
    Designer Pro X (12.2.0.45774)
    Designer Pro X (15) (15.0.0.52427)

Oddly, the install date for both is May 2, 2018. They can be opened and run as separate programs. The "365" is not listed anywhere. I suspect the install dates are updates and not original installs. The download dates (original installs?) as listed in their About windows are Jul 2017 and May 2018, respectively. It's a mystery.

Dan - '365' is a label that really refers to the update service - it was never a program version

when version 12 was released it was marketed under that label as the update service was new, but now the marketing has reverted to the version number

windows OS only sees the version numbers

the 'DL' in the program about window only means that the installer you used was downloaded as opposed to CD/DVD - the dates in the about window are the dates magix/xara released the version, they do not refer to either the date you downloaded, or the date you installed
