Is there a tutorial to slice large images in Xara?

Hi Everyone!

I am about to create some web pages in Xara Photo & Graphic Designer. I don't have Xara Web Designer so my plan is to create the page in Xara using layers, slice the images and then export them in to an images folder. From there I plan to use CSS and HTML to position them and to style the web page. I know this can be done in Photoshop and even though Xara doesn't have Photoshop's capabilities, Xara is all that I have right now.

Has anyone else tried this? Are there any pitfalls or traps that I need to be aware of? I would prefer to use Photoshop for this but I can't afford it right now. I really need to be able to create websites using HTML and CSS and this seems like my only option.

In your case you might want to download the trial of Web Designer Premium. You can import & organize the elements you created in P&GD, setup the navigation and publish the website.

You are making this too hard. Simply use straight lines and Combine Shapes > Slice Shapes. Xara will publish the sliced image in slices. See this example. http://gwpriester.xara.hosting/slice/

Xara creates the CSS and everything for you.

Gary, are you able to confirm the OP can do this with Xara Photo & Graphic Designer?
I am sure the Xara Preview will present everything you describe but can you then export a web page?
