right clickk on padlock (lock aspect ratio) in select tool and untick smart transform

Tried that but unfortunately didn't help. Current on on updates.

I don't think it works with the blue handles - there was talk of an alt modifier, but since I use only the old handles that you get when you click on the show selection bounds handles button, I'm not sure if it works any other way...

ok looks like the alt modifer will do the job without unticking smart transform, but again only in the selector tool

its a pigs ear.. if you need to do it with the blue handles though, because it appears it won't

it looks like xara have deliberately made you leave the photo tool before you can, what they call 'distort', a bitmap
