At least the old, light-grey UI in XDP can still be 'summoned'.

I know (because they say so) that the dark UI works better for some people but I find a light interface much easier to work with.

could it all just be fashion ?

dark interface was championed because: it apparently interferes less when photo editing always assuming the ambient lighting in your workroom is balanced; it uses less energy

I prefer the choice; can't think of another mainstream app I use that forces the user to dark [the xara light 'summons' is really a developers hack]

sadly the last time I tried it, it messed up the UI dialog boxes in places... was a while ago

Too bad.

I had some issues when setting up the custom control bars but only had to minimize the app window and than maximize it again so that the screen would redraw all icons.
