We always have tips.
Draw a rectangle across the top of the area and about 1/2" deep. Apply a 20% Black fill (light gray)
Apply a Multiply gradient transparency.
That's it.

Depending on how dark you want the shadow make the rectangle darker. I used a 40% Black for this example.
