the angled part I have no problem with Rik. It's the reflections. I edited my post to show what I am talking about but it took so long that you had already replied see my edited post. Perhaps I am just full of beans and don't really understand what you are talking about.

I can't say I understand what you mean, Larry.

As I said before, why don't you do a drawing, to show us all what it should look like?

    But, I've done another version.
I'm not sure you'll like this one, either!

Larry - In your image you note "two circled areas". Does that mean you circled two areas because if so they aren't showing up?

RiK & Larry - I think the non-brass base looks good. The one little thing I'm thinking about has to do with where the metal meets the glass. By all indication from the glass/filament and majority of the base it looks like we are looking at a pure side elevation. Nothing wrong with that. Where my eye sees a slight contradiction is the curve seen where the glass is meeting the base. That suggests more of a perspective view that is not suggested by the horizontal elements in the base. If it is to be a side elevation then that joint between base & glass should be perfectly horizontal just like all other elements associated with the base. On the other hand, if it is intended to be in perspective then those other horizontal elements of the base should also be curved. It is of course far easier to make the joint between glass and base horizontal.

[My observations are based on the assumption that the glass bulb would be symmetrical when viewed from any side. To be in pure side elevation with its current curve suggests the glass bulb is not symmetrical - i.e. it suggests if the bulb were turned 90-degrees its profile would be wider than it is shown in your drawings. Furthermore if that was the case, the filament would likely be rotated 90-degrees so it is on axis with the widest part of non-symmetrical bulb. Hope that makes sense].

They should but they are not so I'll work on it and do it again. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. But I'll have to do that later.

I'll stick with your changes as in #7 Rik, for if not no other reason, I like it. Can't we just like something any more with out it being 110% perfect ?

I can't find my original light bulb that Xara used for years on the Tip of the Day! But here is one that followed several years later. I was especially proud of the chrome threaded portion. I used this as a logo for our graphic design business.

I have your 2001 tutorial for the light bulb. I want it specially for the chrome thread which I'm working on now and also that green eye which I like very much. When I finish the chrome threads I intend to put them on a copy of the bulb I posted, so then I will have my original, Rik's new take on it and yours, so well pleased with two B.C.types of bases and a chrome Edison screw base in my files to call on. You can't have enough of the good stuff

Looks a good brass base to me Rik. I'm building a nice collection of bulb bases thanks to your original post

Here's one more brass base. I cloned all three shapes, grouped, gave a black fill then a linear overlay trans. so it appears it's darker towards the edges
