New Table Widget

Xara's support for tables and table data is dire.

The current Table Widget only handles CSV data and has limited Theme control.
It does have sortable column headings and pagination but I achieve better than this with a jQuery Plug-in: DataTables.

Up to now I have handcrafted HTML Table data with DataTables to achieve what I want but changing data, layout and styling was tedious.

NOW, at your very DOOR, I present the new, DYNAMIC, easy to spell, easy to use and easy to view HTML Table Widget:

Open the ZIP and drag onto your Xara web design page.
Your workflow: Fire up Widget, Load or Create, Generate, Save, Copy to clipboard & Insert.

Features:
Save and Load Table data
Import CSV files
Paste table data from copy & paste form Excel, Word and even other web pages
Styling Table, Row, Column and Cell
Transpose

If you understand HTML, you can add links, images and other stuff.

The only downside is I have found no simple way to move rows and columns.

Update service just ran out, I have never needed to use tables before, but after trying to sit a whole night and "create" a table, which looked really crappy anyway, I found this and like 2 minutes later it's all done and dusted! Thank you thank you thank you Acorn for this old thread!!

• For years, we begged Xara for native Tables.
• We had one Widget, that was undersold and had hoops for including any Links as HTML.
• We got a range of SmartTables that wew effectively one functional feature.. Take https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...275#post630275, open that ad strip out the Rows and Columns and Cel content and you effectively have Table 09. From this you can build up the capability of the other offering. You are stuck with the build version I used as the code in earlier versions might not handle it all.
• Xara decided to include it as only part of the Update Service. A truly essential part of a DTP program and a website generator and it is hidden behind a firewall. You, need to ensure you have a design file with a SmartTable saved somewhere. Alternatively, you must download all the content locally (as described many times).
• I go on about accessibility. Xara's SmartTables are not W3-compliant for accessibility. They are a disaster.

Xara giveth and xara takes away.
