Default Lost my Xara webdesign files

    Hi,
I had a hard drive crash, and lost my web design files. I have months old backups on a NAS, but I'm wondering if a usable design file uploads to the host during publishing? Thanks.

Sorry to hear but no, the design file needs to be saved in as many places as you can manage.

It is possible to save a XAR / WEB file in a site upload if you select any Shape and then use Ctrl+Alt+Shift+A to load it but few would do this as the design is quite precious as you have just discovered.

I design and save all my Xara work directly into my Dropbox folders so i always have a Cloud copy and its backups.
You can save to another HDD, USB drive or optical media but all have to be a conscious activity.

There are HDD recovery services, which cost.

OK, I'm reconstructing. Shouldn't be too bad. Lesson learned. Thanks.

Part of the reason I use Filezilla to upload is that I can also put the .web file on the host whenever I want to (which is about every new version upload) so I can downloaded it. Very easy to do.
