Thread: Dresser Top

  1. #1

    Default Dresser Top

A newly drawn pocket watch, along with a ball point pen and the front and back side of a playing card not seen before. Can you surmise what card it is?

Beautifully done. Oh and the card is the R of Spades.

Absolutely beautiful, Ron. Would it be 'Duke of Spades'?

It needs to be the Rex of Spaces as the Duke of Spades is there already.
The watch chimes the Ace of Spades.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

Dear Penny got it right, based on my intentions. I've never seen a deck of cards with a "Duke of Spades", nor have I ever heard of a "Rex of Spades". My knowledge is limited as regards playing cards. I'm only familiar with cards sold here in the U.S.

Ron, my logic was as follows:

D for your Surname (Duke), which would be the Knave in Lewis Carroll's Alice.
R for your Forename (Ron), where you would be the King (Latin Rex) as it's your drawing.
Neither could be of Hearts as they are fully booked in advance on Saint Valentine's Day and you certainly wouldn't steal any tarts.
As you are a major player that left Spades as the only Major Suit remaining.

You can't really have two of the same card in the one deck so the hidden card had to be other than the D of S.

All we need now is your Joker.

    Acorn

P.S. Your Middle Name is Cardsharp is it?

I don't follow Acorn, I can understand R but why would the suite have to be a spade? Why could it not be a diamond or club?

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.
