Image and text skewing / distorting megathread

I noticed the same text behavior but was not off-put by it. It actually makes sense to me. It is text until I convert to editable object, much like a square is an object that cannot be parts-isolated until converted. Once converted the text is as smushable (sic) as before. Just guessing here, but didn't the text lose its font aspect when it was distorted in the previous version? Possibly the earlier version converted the text as soon as the distortion attempt was initiated, whereas it is a two-step process now. My Xara use goes back to before the Corel acquisition and I remember that text could be distorted but I cannot remember if it converted it in the same move. My version 12 is uninstalled.

Correct. No longer a font calculated object but now a regular object that looks like text. Which means you get on shot at the letter selection.

But it WAS always both "smushable" and editable in previous versions.

It's now been over 2 months since you confirmed that it's going to be fixed!

I asked this very same question on Xara's facebook Page and Xara's reply was was It's imminent"

From that, it should be any time now....

I just upgraded from 9 to 15 and this is the dumbest thing I've ever seen! Okay, add this new feature for the non-professionals BUT at least have a modifier key 'Shift + Control + Drag' or something to allow you to still take things out of aspect ratio! Because I chop off and stretch a bit of sky on images all the time. Or stretch textures ... or stretch any part of an image. It makes the software utterly unusable from a professional perspective with out a turn off feature.

One of the most powerful things about Xara was it handling of bitmaps inside of a vector. Beat everything hands down. Now it just makes it a drap and drop POS.

I've been running my business on this software since it had a red car on the box! Yep Xara Studio version uno!

Off back to 9 I trot. Shame because I liked the ligature stuff.

Perhaps you can try this: Download and install V12 (http://www.xara.com/eu/designer-pro/download/ and scroll down) and use the serial number you received for V15. You can have V9, V12 and V15 working side by side w/o any problems. In terms of features there's hardly any difference between V12 en V15.

Was just playing around with this 'new' feature of 15.

Make sure aspect ratio is off on the toolbar.

You can use the mould tool on text. And pick Default Envelope.

Click on one top corner... Then hold Shift + Alt and click on the other top corner.

Now drag the corners holding the Control key... Your text stretches!

You can edit the text by right clicking and choosing Open Mould

When saving text updates!

I do prefer the old way better though lol
