Need ideas for picture display with longer descriptions

I have a number of pics on my index page - with paragraph long descriptions - and need a better way to display them. Theyre a little willy-nilly at the moment and need a cleaner look. Each picture has a paragraph long story (winners, contributors etc) You'll get a better idea at www.northeastspca.org -- I was thinking of a longer description in a slide show - but not sure if that's the ticket.

Right now everything on the page is pretty rigid and of equal importance. Your three photos are all aligned on the left.

Can you make the photos larger, not huge but bigger, and move them about the page. It makes the page friendlier.

And I am guessing you are volunteering the site. Good on you!

Have you thought of using Photo Panels Bill?

Clone the image onto the MouseOver layer and set it to repel text.
Add a large textbox behind this image on the MouseOver image and select all three objects and soft-group them.
Finally, add a # as a Link to the group to create a roll-over event.
