Default "Clipped" images can't be optimized

I've just dragged some pics onto a page and cropped them slightly.
Select all the images and try to optimize them - nothing changes.
The info bar at the bottom says "1 clipped photo deli5_6502jpg" for example.
    Any ideas?

Hmm. I just tried this with two images in WD Premium 15 and Designer Pro X 15 and both optimized perfectly.

Where did these images come from? Is there anything special about them?

I tried clipping and optimising and it reports "1 Photo (Optimised).
I tried erasing and optimising and it reports "1 Clipped photo (Optimised).
    Neither would uncrop.

Bother were optimised; the status bar information sis a tad wrong in the second.

I think when a photo have been cropped and you optimize the photo that the cropped portion is removed. I could be wrong.
