XPGD 15 - Major error - resizing font

0k. minute I posted I remembered something and I tried taking aspect lock off and holding shift whilst dragging - that works in versions 10 through 12 and that could be how it was - but this does not work in p&G15 - can't see a way to squish whilst preserving text editability...

These faults do not happen in P&GD11. It is one of many reasons I have not updated my version. The two most steady versions seem to be 11 and 7.

Ahhh interesting. Does it work the same with photos too? Because it applies the same! Am I just missing something here?

I only have 11, 12 & 15 installed.

Both 11 & 12 allow text and images to be squished/stretched dis-proportionally by turning the aspect lock off. Only 15 doesn't allow it here.

I can distort an image here if I use the right mouse button on a center handle. Which then also makes a copy, but it works. It doesn't appear to be working but does. A bit too fiddly to do "accurately."

I am using a Trial version of Photo & Graphic Designer 15 on Win7 64-bit. but have several other Xara programs.

Create the text, and then Click the Mould Tool and Select the “Default Envelope”, but don’t stretch the text. Then Click the Select Tool. All the Handles should work then. I have no idea why. It seems to work with any of the Mould Tools, but the Default Envelope and the "Default Perspective" tools will keep the original shape of the text. I hope this helps.

ok - to get the behaviour in version 15 back to how it should be you need to make a registry change - at least it worked for me
for photo and graphic designer that would be:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\Xtreme x64\15\Options\Dragging

find the EnableGroupSquash key and change it's value from 0 to 1

It looks like this has been set aat 0 by default in version 15, wheras in versions 11 and 12 it is set at 1 by default

my versions 11 and 12 are back to normal - I think I left them in the wrong state being in a hurry ok after restoring their registry settings to default

I don't think XaReg is going to help with this...

Ah yes, I remember this now.

First mention was in 2014 with XDP 10. Phil let us know the registry item.

Except it doesn't appear to work.

Both 11 and 12 had this flag set to 1. V15 had zero. Changed to 1 and nada.

well it is working for me in p&g15 and xdp15, given the known caveats of program off when making registry changes and aspect lock off when squishing text

maybe something more subtle is going on as results don't seem consistent... ?

Works here. But "only" for text...
The seemingly connected issue with not being able to squish images is not affected by this fix.
