apparently it is to fit in with magix's internal numbering system, now they are handling the actual distribution...

I frequently mount virtual drives as X, Y and Z [but the system sometimes hogs Z]

Is that not logical? If that is not logical then no need to give it up, because V13 and V14 might come yet

Anyway the number mysticism appears quite often in the technology, number 13 often considered to be unlucky for some people, sure also to 14 there is some marketing explanation.

Companies try to avoid those, while for example 'X', or 'A' or 'AAA' look as some premium product.
