    Questions:
1.Have you ever used PI before and is this an upgrade, or is it the first time you've installed it in your PC? Are you installing it from the CD or internet download?
2.During the installation process, does everything go smoothly?
3.How about rebooting the PC after installation?
4.Is your pc part of a network that requires administrative privileges?
5.Do you have any other softwares running during installation?

Some people do not have their computer date set right and if it wasn't set right at the time, PI may be thinking your trial has expired, in which case you need to put in your serial code number if you have bought it.

It doesn't get rid of the memory that it has been on your computer, it just means you can't completely remove it being there in which case it thinks you have installed it before.

A person who specializes in cleaning your computer system would be the one I think who could really help you. My son's a computer guru and is about certified in everything under the sun, so I don't have to worry. Also some things like firewall and anti-virus may still be to blame, you can check your settings as to what it will allow you to do.
Every day's a new day, "draw" on what you've learned.

Be sure that your Anti-virus program is disabled before you install your new programs. Otherwise it may corrupt your installations. -AF

It may be a long shot, but here's something you could try. I got this idea from an answer to a question in the Xara forum. Maybe no file type is associated with PI.

    Specifically, Daniel's reply.
Could be a Windows SP2 issue.

Check out the file type associations, anyway. Specifically .ufo file, which is PI's native file format. Another thing to try: see if you have any old ufo files you saved earlier. Double click the file and see it PI could be launched that way...
