Perhaps I should check your other posts, but right now I'm too lazy. Do you use Gimp under Linux or PC?
I haven't installed Linux (yet), and the site says that Gimp for Win isn't really stable... [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif[/img]
If you don't work against time, time often works for you.
I use both. Gimp on Windows version 1.2 is stable.
The latest versions are not. I do not recall any problem installing it, which was ages ago, other than having to apply a patch to solve the unsaved image window closing problem.
There are mailing lists at gug site where you can post your question if you encounter a problem, but
generally it should be easy enough.
