    Default PinPress your friends!

    P R O L O G

I worked with Paul Howard, another Art Director at Ted Bates back in 1976, Paul is the son of Moe Howard, the undisputed head of the 3 Stooges. Paul would stick his head on the photocopy platen along with a cut-out speech balloon. Like father like son.

Perhaps more interesting than copying your face is creating a low-res 3D sculpture of your face.

Ward Fleming originally created and patented Pin Art, AKA Pin Screen™ in 1976, then marketed in 1980, originally larger than knock-offs today. A signed original goes for $60 on eBay, I think it was about $35 when it first came out. Metal pins were changed to plastic because it was too heavy in metal. Today, knock-offs in plastic (under the name of PinPressions), is about $3 at Target for a 4 by 6, seasonal, Christmas gift.

To honor this toy—and to give Christmas a little honor (!) — this is the last piece of art I've created before The Holidays, and probably for the year.

    Default Green

I wanted to abstract a simple scene of paint cans, so I illustrated over the finished render, then used Filter Forge to add a slight haze to the scene.

    Default orange

An unintentional companion to "green". I used Xara Designer a lot more than one would imagine, for masking, drawing the splines for creating the meshes...and for signing it!
