Default Filling a letter or letter with imagesl

    Hi people of wisdom.

I am sure I have seen a tutorial on this in the past but cannot find it now.

I want to take a number, in this case 7, in a common sans serif font say Arial and and produce an outline.
Then I want to put some vertical and horizontal lines across it, breaking the outline into segments.
Then I want each segment to have a different photo behind it.
I'd like to be able to select and move each photo individually so as to produce the most pleasing effect.

I am sure I have seen this done earlier and I don't want to reinvent the wheel.

If someone can point to a tutorial or the like I will be very grateful.

    cheers, Erik

Collect your images into the Bitmap gallery.

Select a segment and apply Fill Tool > Bitmap and pick an image.
Adjust the controls for size, position and rotation.

NOTE: Once you save & close your Xara file, unused bitmaps are removed from the file.

Here's the xar file should you wish to mess with it Erik. I've given the outlines a stained glass border look.

Egg, I can see people actually building something real from your design,

Thanks folks, particularly Egg. I am sure I can get this going now. At the moment though I have now moved about three hours away from home and only have access to a rather clunky laptop. Looking forward to getting back in a fortnight. The last version with a 3D effect is great and I can see me putting a fair bit of time into that. It is a bit more elaborate than I need but great fun.
I'll post when I get back.

    Thanks again, Erik
