Default Navigation links and help with selection

So let's say I have "About BCCSC" in the menu but I have sub menus under that. I want the 1st one that is the menu at the very top to have a link, and then add more below. I get a message, "Warning: You have at least one button with both a link and a menu. I've attached a screen shot of the warning.

Is there any way around this? I have about 3 menu items that I would also like to be links and then have some submenus under them. Right now I repeat it into the submenu, which in my humble opinion is confusing

Thanks in advance. I know if there is a work around one of you will know how to make it work!
And if you need to see the real nav bar it's on bccsc.net. Conflicts are "about BCCSC" "All About Beardies" "Membership" "Specialty"

Sue, if you're using submenus don't give the main navbar button a link.

So name it "About Us" or similar then in the Main navbar like this:

Egg, why is it that it won't link properly though? Do you know?
For instance, I would like to keep "Home" but also put contact us there...so if I do that I mess it up also. Ugh!!
And the reason I am questioning why it won't work is just that people that use the web sometimes just don't get how to find things. I am trying to simplify it by making repetitive links for them so that I don't get complaints and if I make some of the Menu items links, I think it makes it more simple, I just don't want to break it!

Also I was able to duplicate the upload and error again. I will find that thread and post there.

Try building a CSS3 Menu Widget instead: http://www.cssportal.com/css3-menu-generator/.
