I checked that footer though and it shows the (c) and year but not the day and month. Unless I missed something.

The attached will show the day, date and year. The placeholder is black, but the color does not show when you preview the page.

I'm no expert in copyright law by any means, but I think you may be disadvantaging yourself if you change the copyright date of your work. As I understand it, the date claimed should be the date of creation of the work.

Agreed dearjay. The OP was asking for a dynamic date range, in years, from initial fixed year to current.
As to the why, it is not for me to guess why. Far easier to have a fixed date.

Hey there JayDear and Acorn: I know this might be off topic, but for those that care to know about copyright...it's best to put the year you start and then include the year it is still in effect....my reason for putting up start date (year) and to date (year). Not the month day and year but only the year. My brother is an attorney

Egg - It certainly should. But for all this trouble, why not just update the copyright line on 1 January each new year? Low tech. And it works.

My wife who wrote a book on copyrights for artists says it is best to ask a copyright attorney.
